The day after hump day....

I know what you are thinking....from the looks of her icon, Sherry is in store for an exciting day....

I'll admit I love to clean; I get a certain satisfaction from seeing my tables gleam in all of their "pledge-like" glory. I am confident in the fact that if any bird in my neighborhood is going to fly mach 5 into a crystal clear, windexed to perfection, plate glass window, it's going to be mine. To me, a sink full of dishes is not a task to abhor, but a chance for quiet contemplation of the mysteries of life....but as for ironing....I loathe it. I will do anything to put it off. I have been known to make my family wear wrinkled things that are not fit for public viewing....okay, maybe that's going a bit too far....but more than once John has stood in the closet, looking at me with puppy dog eyes saying, "Honey, what do you think I should wear tomorrow?" When I hear him say this I know I've got one more day, minimum, before I have to iron. One time I let it go two days, at which point he actually got the iron and board himself, and was going to attempt to do it. Of course, I jumped up and did it. Not because I'm a Stepford wife, but because I didn't want to have to go out and replace what he was about to scorch.

In any case, today I will be ironing. I will also be running to the store, and finishing some bookwork for a class. Then, I'll find time to make dinner, take Betsy to her CAT scan, etc., etc.

The weekend is shaping up nicely....for wee one. So far it's Thursday and she has two parties lined up. Jeez....I don't have two parties a year, let alone a weekend. Must be nice to be young and popular. Betsy is a free girl as of this morning (grounding, don't ask....), so I'm sure she will be planning to break free this weekend as well.

Okay, time to take wee one to the bus stop and start my day....happy happy joy joy!http://victorian.fortunecity.com/russell/105/spumrs.htm

*Update: It's 10:55 am and I still haven't started my ironing....looks like my procrastination-free week has officially ended!

Wednesday....

Why yes, this is my usual mode of transportation, when I'm not in my mini van....

*Update: I've had many people ask about the little girl from wee one's class who is supposedly allergic to her own sweat. Turns out, it was a 4th grade "urban legend". Her mother was a chaperone on the feild trip because the little girl has severe asthma. How it went from asthma to toxic perspiration is beyond me....but you gotta love a 4th graders imagination. When I confronted wee one about it, she looks at me and says, "Huh? Oh, okay....", shrugged her shoulders and went back to her cartoons. *Sigh.

I'm almost done with my sewing, yippee. Although being that Christmas is coming, I will have to start another load right away. Seems Betsy wants a digital camera, and wee one wants an electric scooter. These are pretty big ticket items, so Santa is going to have to revise the "three gift rule". Either a. they get their chosen gift, but it will be a "three in one" deal, OR b. they get their chosen gift and the remaining two gifts are at Santa's discretion. (i.e. a cd or socks....)

I can't believe the holiday season is closing in on us so quickly. Living somewhere that the temperature in October is still in the 80's, gives you a false sense of season. I keep thinking Christmas is a long way off....in reality it will be here in 79 days, 16 hours and 38 minutes. (According to the Christmas clock on christmasdepot.com). Yikes!

Well, I am going to get going....it's time to braid hair, pack a bookbag, and start my cleaning. Welcome to my world....

Candy Corn Dancing

Did you know if you eat a few pieces of candy corn with a few roasted peanuts it tastes like a Payday candy bar? Try it....(This is for you, Cheezy. I know how much you LOVE candy corn! pmsl!)

Oh my aching head....

Well, I'm back from the field trip. It was pretty neat. We went to Sally Industries. Apparently a man who was in dental school 27 years ago had a class in which he had to do a communications project. He took a mannequin head, wired it up so that the mouth, eyes, etc. moved, put a wig on it and called it Sally....he went on to become a dentist, and he also has this little side business, which creates animatronics for rides at Disney, Universal, etc. They had robotics that looked like real human beings in there....some of them were pretty freaky they were so real. They also had a HUGE t-rex head, like the kind from Jurassic Park. The kids LOVED that. They also had sculptures in clay and foam that were from Disney's next project that revolves around Davey Crockett. I took some pics, but with a regular camera. I'll post them when I get them developed.

It turned out that my group was just the girls in the class. The boys were going later in the day, as it is not a big place and couldn't accommodate those many children on the tour at one time. The girls were all very good. We had to wear safety goggles for the tour, since we were going through the shop area. They passed them out and they were really cool looking....like those wrap around sunglasses. Then they took the ones out for the adults....they looked like old lady teardrop glasses....I was quite a stunner, I must say....lmao. Wee one looked at me and said, "Mom, you look like a teen....a nerdy teen!" Gee honey, thanks. They told the kids that they had to keep them on at all times, and if she had to tell them more than three times to put them on, they would have to leave the tour. Later on, one of the kids asked where they got the eyeballs for the human looking robots. (Now, if the tour guide was smart, she would have said, "From the children who don't keep the glasses on." I guarantee no one would have taken them off after that!) The guide was really nice, and there were laser games the kids got to play under blacklights. Kids always love that....seeing their shirts glowing. All in all it was a really nice trip.

Okay, I've wasted enough time....I have to go sew. At least my headache is feeling better....

Field Trip Day....

Today is field trip day....yippee. I get to spend my morning on a bus with 60 hyperactive fourth graders. Oh joy. I am one of three moms that will be attending. One lady I have been on several field trips with, and the other one is coming because wee one told me, "Her daughter is allergic to her own sweat, and if it gets too hot, her mom has to take her home." Now, I'm thinking 1. wee one must be mixed up on this because 2. what person in their right mind would live in Florida if their child had such a condition? I'll let you know what I find out....

Not much else going on. Dh is down to one class this semester....statistics is out the window. Seems there was a "miscommunication" with the guidance counselor, and he already had the credits he needed regarding mathematics. Sheesh! So, this will be an easy semester with only one class, and then he can really hit the books after Christmas. Actually, this will probably be a better idea, since it's been a while since he's been in school. Thank goodness we hadn't bought the calculator yet. Hmmmmm, looks like my procrastination paid off....

Another Monday....

Ahhh yes, it's Monday again. Time to say goodbye to the weekend, and hello to a blissfully quiet house....

Of course my week is jam packed with things to do....starting today with my quest to find a TI-83 calculator for my dh (you can decide what the "d" in dh stands for). Of course we had the entire weekend to do it, but did we? Noooooo. And I've seen our credit card statements, so I know dh can actually purchase things without my help, so why does this task fall to me? I'll tell you why....I'm going to the store anyway, so why not just pick one up while I'm out? Hmmmmm, well, maybe because the Office Depot is no where near where I'll be today? Or, perhaps because I have a hundred other things to do? Or maybe because IT ISN'T MY FREAKING RESPONSIBILITY?! Now, I don't mind doing things for others, trust me. I do it every day....like when I pick up dd's clothes because it's just too much to walk them to the washer, or when I finish making my teen's bed because it must be too exhausting for her to pull the covers all the way to the top of the pillow (I will never understand that one). However, dh has known for over a month that he needed the calculator. Honestly, I don't know why I'm even writing about this. These things will never change, so I might as well suck it up, and do it with a smile....

You know, today I had decided to start the week with a positive attitude. I'm going to become more organized, be less of a procrastinator, really try to enjoy my life here in the sunshine state until we can leave it behind....I guess I'm not getting off to a very good start, huh?

Okay, FOCUS....let's see....tomorrow I'm going on a field trip with wee one's class. She's looking forward to having me go, which is always nice. At least someone wants to be with me just because....I have to take Betsy for a CAT scan on Thursday for her kidneys, and I have a room mother meeting on Friday. I'm sure other things will pop up between now and then, but that's the tentative schedule....

Oh yes, as for my cough....it's still there, but not as bad. I suppose I was jumping the gun thinking it was pneumonia....or maybe I was subliminally hoping I'd get a week in bed being catered to....

Well, it's time to get wee one dressed and out the door for school, so that I can start my positive and procrastination-free day....happy freaking Monday everyone!

P.S. Did anyone happen to catch "Desparate Housewives" last night? It was really good....

Sick on Saturday....

Man, I am sick of being sick. I got up at 9 am, had some coffee, went back to bed, got up at 11, took a shower, laid around, coughed, had dinner, coughed some more....wow, will the excitement never end?  I am thinking I have walking pneumonia. I've had it before, and this feels eerily like it. I'm exhausted, even after a nap, and my cough keeps getting deeper in my chest. I suppose I should go to the doctor Monday. Until then I'll push the fluids and enjoy some soup....

Betsy has spent the day in her room, working on a scrap book. She and two of her friends are each taking a few pages and making a friendship scrapbook together. I think it's a pretty cool idea. One of her friends got the book and the idea from her dad on her 16th birthday.

Wee one spent the day at her friends house. They had pizza, then went to build-a-bear at the mall. She came home with an orange Halloween bear....it's really cute! The girls made identical bears with identical sounds....

John spent the day working on homework. Elementary Statistics seems to be a more involved subject that he had first thought. But, he's getting through it....he has an analytical mind, which helps. I took one look at it and said, "Good luck."

I did make some fudge for the family, which is always an excellent remedy for any cough or cold. It's pretty dang good, if I do say so myself.

I have to give "props" to cameronsmom0376, as she is our haggis bashing leader with 967....I am still trying to beat that score!

Benadryl Blues....

I am still fighting this cold....which, when I thought about it this morning, may be allergies. My throat is scratchy, my nose stuffy and sneezy, and my eyes are grainy. So, being the super smart person I am, I decided to take some Benadry. Now, I'm half way through my morning chores, and feel like passing out! I forgot how sleepy these pills make me. On an up note, I can breathe clear, and my throat is better....

I can't believe it's Friday already. With the girls out of school on Monday and Tuesday, I'm all out of whack. It's also October....what used to be my favorite month of all. Actually , it still brings back wonderful memories....especially when I turn the air on full blast and put sweats on! That's funny I should mention sweats....it used to be my "uniform" of choice up north. Now, I haven't bought a pair in 3 years....shorts and capris, that's what I wear 9 months out of the year!

Wee one did not get student counsel. She was a tad upset, but seems to have forgotten about it. She said that everyone laughed at her "I approve this message" line....however, with only one boy running, he won the guy vote. Although her "friend" who sits next to her, voted for her. He said her speech was the best, and she should have beat the alternative, whom, in his and wee one's words, "Thinks she's all that!" LMAO....boy I remember those days! the winner had 7 votes, the alternate had 6 and wee one had 5. Just missed it! She has been class representative for two years now, so I suppose that it's time for someone else to get a chance. Here's her speech:

Planting flowers at the school for everyone to see,
Donating candy to the kids who have less than you and me.
A box is made and filled with treats, decorated like a turkey with feathers,
Generous students bring in food to help make someone's Thanksgiving better.
Singing carols at the nursing home, making stockings for needy children,
Drawing valentines for the veterans, helping others in the world we live in.
This is what student counsel means, helping the community.
I would do my very best, if you vote for me.

"I'm wee one and I approve this message."

Now tell me that's not a winning speech! She wrote down all the activities the sc does, and then we rhymed them up. I asked her what the other kids speeches were like, and she said, "Mom, they were like two sentences. I want you to vote for me...." LOL....I told her I was proud of her for trying, and for putting thought into the speech. She seemed okay with it....and went off to play the Sims for 3 hours! LOL....

Boy, the longer I sit here, the more tired I am! The medicine has definately kicked in. Next week is a busy one with dr. appointments, school meetings and a field trip to boot! It should be fun though....I just love going places with the kids.

Well, I'm going to try to finish up my cleaning so I can get some laundry done, and then, perhaps a well deserved nap....here's hoping!

Happy Friday everyone....

BTW: Have you stopped playing the game yet? Leave your best scores in my comment box....I want to see if anyone can get 1000. Mrscheesestix is ahead with 927!
