Ummmm....

RE: the previous entry....

You have to scroll down the page to see that I've been linked on a VACUUM site (yeah I know it sounds lame but to me it's quite an achievement lol)....I was not saying that vacuuming makes you skinny, or pointing out the ab workout....lolol. If that were the case I'd be featured in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition with all the vacuuming I do! LOL....

You know you've "made it" when....

My obsession, my passion, my commitment to the vacuum has all been worth it. I have finally made it....

Thursday....where did the week go????

Alright now....no comments on this graphic! (Although truthfully, it is a perfect representation of myself....)

Today I spent the day with my husband. He took the day off, as well as tomorrow. He is one of those guys that never takes vacation time, and we decided that since he working his butt off without proper recognition, he is going to start enjoying the vacation time he has earned. He said to me this morning that he felt guilty being off because there are projects going on that he is involved in. I said, well, considering that this journal is rated PG-13, I can't type exactly what I said....but rest assured it was R-rated and completely appropriate!

So, after taking both Betsy and wee one to school (awwwww), he came home and took me out to breakfast. We went to a great new diner that, I must say, had the best french toast I have ever eaten! And it was a typical 1950's diner too....silver on the outside with the little windows, red and white glitter booths, black and white tile floors, stools and a "bar" at the front, and classic 1950's tunes playing. We have to go back and try their burgers because I just know they are going to be spectacular!

After that, we rode around a bit, taking in the sites and then headed to the phone store to get a new provider. We got a spectacular deal that was only $10 more than our old deal....plus 700 extra minutes and a line for Betsy! WooHoo....

Betsy had a poetry slam tonight at school. She was thrilled because over 50 kids showed up and it was a hit. She is president of the poetry club so she was a bit nervous about how it would all work out. They had coffee, cookies, pop, etc. Next week they have their end of the year bash. I think she will be sad because she is good friends with a lot of seniors and they will be leaving. Oh, to be young and carefree once again....lol.

Next week I was invited out fordinner by a *new friend*! Now, I may seem chatty and outgoing here, but in "real life" I have a few acquaintances, but only one or two real friends. Both of whom live back in Indiana/Illinois. So, this darling girl took pity on me and is dragging me out with some ladies from the neighborhood. (Her neighborhood, but I'll take what I can get!) Here is the thing....I'm a little nervous because in the 17 years I've been married....I've never gone out with friends alone without my husband. I can hear the gasps of amazement! It's not that he forbade me to do so (he would probably like me to leave sometimes). It's not that we are attached at the hip (although that would be a great explanation as to why my hips are so big). It's just that we have always done things together and as a family. He has done very few things with friends over the years, and when he has it is usually a motorcycle ride or helping someone move. So, this will be a new experience for me. I told Betsy about it and said to her, "Face it sweetie, your mommy is growing up!" She just rolled her eyes and left the room....apparently I'm not as funny as I originally thought.

I can't believe it's almost 9:00. I've got things to get done before bed so I'm taking my leave....have a good one!

Bye-bye Flo!!!!

Well, today we got rid of our boat, Flo....named lovingly by my dear friend Martha who suggested it (Future Lawn Orniment). The couple who bought her were so excited. It was their first boat, and they are going to surprise their kids with it. They are going to buy them some of those boating innertubes and tell them they can use them in the pool....or....(drumroll....open the door) in the boat! I thought it was a cute idea.

We took them to the dock today, to give them a quickie lesson on getting it in and out of the water. It's a bit of a chore when it's your first time, and a lot to remember. However, they did a fine job and things went swimmingly....almost literally. You see, to get the boat off the trailer, we showed them how to do it with only two people. Instead of having someone to back it into the water, and someone who is in the boat to start it and back it up, we used the ropes to gently pull it off the trailer and around the side to tie it up. So, while John is directing the guy back, the woman and I grab the lines. I am at the end of the dock, pulling, stepping, pulling, stepping, pulling....why did no one tell me the dock eventually ended????

I started to put my foot down and felt....nothing. I looked down and thankfully, since I had such a tight grip on the line was able to pull myself back toward the dock before falling into the water. And to top it off, the dock is directly in front of a waterfront restaurant....which of course was serving dinner. There was only one couple sitting outside, however, I saw the woman stop, fork mid-way to her mouth, watching to see if I fell. She then nudged her husband and he turned around. Funny thing was, no one I was with noticed what was going on.....thankfully.

After getting the boat in the water, we went on one last ride. Let me say, this guy isn't into leisurely drifting along. Noooo, he decided to see just how fast that baby could go. I was white knuckling it for at least 2 miles. He then decided to check out the turning radius....I don't think my side of the boat was touching water at that point. Let me just say....I don't believe I will miss that thing!

So tomorrow I get to make a trip to the bank to deposit some cash....and you know, I think that matching rocker that I didn't buy the other day will complete my patio set rather nicely! LOLOL....

The weekend....

It's been a lovely weekend here. The temps were warm yesterday, and cool today! Beautiful! Yesterday wee one and her aunt went on a bike ride at the "rails to trails" park. There used to be railroad tracks, but they were taken up and a bike trail was created. Wee one said it was beautiful, with wildflowers and farms along the way. They also had benches and such to sit and relax, or have lunch. John said he wants to go as a family for a nice, leisurely ride. I said that sounded nice, as long as we do it before the temps settle in the 80's!

Betsy and I went shopping whilst wee one was gone. We took a nice stroll around wally world, and picked up a few necessities. Of course, it turned into more than a few and I spent more than I meant to. But they had some great deals on cereal! LOL....really, it's the only place to buy cereal if you don't want to pay $4 a box!

Later on that evening we picked up mom and went out to dinner then to Barnes and Nobel. We all got books....and wee one and John got movies. I wanted to get a cappuccino, but didn't. Sometimes I think I want one, then just the smell of it is enought to satisfy me....it's so comforting for some reason!

So, while taking my mom home last night, we passed the church that wee one attends with her friend on Wednesday nights. It was then that I remember her saying something about singing on Sunday morning. I happen to ask her about it and she says, "Oh yeah. We HAVE to go because I have a special part!" Jeez....thanks for telling me! LOL....so when I got home I called my friend and sure enough, they had to sing at BOTH services! So, we went to a new church this morning, and enjoyed listening to the kids singing. It was so cute. I just love hearing kids sing like that. The service wasn't bad either....however, I will be staying with my church. I think my mom enjoyed it because it did kind of remind me of the type of services we attended as kids.

Anyhoo, right now dh is yelling for me to get the corn cooking so he can start the grill. We are having steakand potatoes and corn on the cob. Mmmmm. Sounds good. I should make a dessert though....but I'm not sure what to bake. I was going to bake cookies, but I'm not really in the mood to do that right now.  I did just buy some ice cream, so maybe that can be dessert....hey yeah....sundaes on Sunday!

Friday night....(how original)

No specific reason for the animation....I just thought it was cute!

THE JOB

Turns out the ass. (yes, I meant to abbreviate that way) manager didn't know they had hired 2 new cashiers and the call was to ask Betsy if they could keep her application on file for the summer. She was pretty disappointed! But, we will forge ahead this weekend and put in some more applications.

THE LAWN ORNAMENT (aka BOAT)

We put in an ad in our local boat trader and today we got our first call on it. The guy will be out tomorrow morning at 9:00 am. Dh is outside now spiffing it up some more. Here's hoping!

THE FURNITURE

Thank you to all who complimented my new set! I just went out there and sat for a while....it's just beautiful! There is a light breeze, and the new floor lamp makes it all cozy. Wee one said it would be a great place to spend the night....lol. She said it was like having another living room. It's not "real" wicker, but a synthetic type. I liked it better because with the mold and pollen here, it will be much easier to keep clean.

THE FIELD TRIP

A few have asked about the fact that it was a "religious" trip Betsy went on and to be honest....I never even thought about it! She goes to a public high school and they have an actual "Christian club", but that is not who sponsored the trip. It was a history teacher who set it up, and it was open to anyone who wanted to go. Betsy didn't even know about it until two days before the trip, when a friend asked her if she would like to go. So, I suppose since it was strictly voluntary, people don't have a problem with it. They managed to fill an entire tour bus and I would venture to guess had it been more widely advertised, more would have gone.

Anyhoo....that's it. My itemized update. I have such a headache right now. I think it may be from my dh (and tonight the d does not stand for darling) arguing with me over something stupid. Men can be such jerks. (I say that with a loving heart, of course....)

Friday....

As you can see from the above pictures....I finally got my patio set. I ended up getting it at Target, and I have to say although it wasn't the exact set I wanted, it is really nice. My mom and I found it yesterday whilst spending the day shopping. After asking the sales associate if they had more than one set, I called dh and asked him to stop and pick it up on the way home, since he is the one with the truck. Of course he immediately says, "How bout if I just come home and get you and we go together?" Dear Lord I do not know how this man functions when I am not near him! Sheesh!

In any case, it worked out well because I ended up getting dinner out of the deal. Wee one, dh and I took off for the store then Applebee's (or as I like to say "Crapplebee's", but hey, I didn't have to cook!). When we got home I immediately had to leave to pick up Betsy from the school.

Boy, when we were kids and went on field trips, we rode in a bus. A school bus. The same freaking bus we rode to and from school in every day, nothing fancy. Betsy, however, rode in luxury. It was a gorgeous HUGE white travel bus....like the kind you'd expect to see a music star ride in. I asked her if there was a bathroom on the bus and she said yes. Of course, she didn't check it out. I guess things like that just don't interest teenagers! LOL. She said that the Holy Land experience was "awesome". About the Holy Land Experience Here is a link to their site, if you are interested. She said that the theatrical reinactments and playlets were wonderful, and that the man who portrayed Jesus made you feel like you were truly in His presence. She said that she felt "totally connected to God." I am "totally thrilled" she went! All of her friends had a great time too. And to top it all off....the restaurant called! Although, at this point, we are not sure what it is about because we weren't home and when she called back, the assistant manager wasn't there. However, the manager told her that it was most likely about employment. She is so excited. The guy told her that he would not call if she didn't get the job....so we are keeping our fingers crossed!

I can't believe it is Friday again. It seems like the week just flew by. And, of course, the kids only have 4 weeks of school left.  I can't believe wee one only has one more year in elementary school. It really is amazing how quickly time flies.

Okay, time for me to get off my arse and clean up the rest of this house. Have a great Friday everyone!

Thursday....(I'm sick of thinking up original titles!)

It's field trip day! Betsy and 75 of her closest friends are on their way to the "Holy Land Experience". I had never heard of this before last week when she brought the permission slips home. She's pretty excited about it. They have a gorgeous day for it....sunny and 82. This morning she was running around, searching for her cd player, a bag to carry snacks in, etc. They do get to have lunch at a fancy Cafe as well....but heaven help us if she doesn't have Mountain Dew to get her through the bus trip! LOL....I don't know how anyone can drink that stuff! I hope they all have a wonderful time. I get to pick her up at school this evening. She should be mighty tired tonight!

She also had her first job interview yesterday, at a local fast food restaurant. She was a little nervous, but told me that it went really well. She said that she made eye contact the entire time, and smiled a lot. The manager told her that they are having trouble with kids getting jobs there, then flirting during their entire shift. She assured him that would not be a problem for her, that she would be there to work. He asked her if she was good at math, and she told him that indeed, she was an A math student. (I was looking at her math homework last night....might as well have been alien gibberish....I can't believe that a child of MINE can understand that!) All in all it was a good interview, and he said if she didn't hear from her by Friday she probably did not have the job....there was a girl there waiting for an interview after Betsy. She said she was really nervous. I sure hope she gets the job, but if not, it was good experience!

Today is wee one's first after school meeting for patrol. She is pretty excited about it. They also have a special program going on today. I'm not sure what it is, as it's a "secret". So, all the kids are excited to find out.

I went out last night, looking for the particular set of patio furniture I want....and of course they are sold out. And of course they don't know when they will be getting more, but I can "call every day to see if any came in". Yeah, sure. I think I'll just go look around and find something similar, rather than do YOUR job, thank you very much! Sheesh. I do want to get something though....my porch looks so empty since I threw out all the old stuff. That's what I get for procrastinating though....

Okay, I'm off to get wee one ready for school. Have a lovely Thursday!

Wednesday....

Last night was the safety patrol meeting. It looked as though 2/3 of the kids and their parents showed up for the "mandatory" meeting. They started right on time because as part of the patrols, it is their duty to be where they are supposed to be, at the designated time. It was a nice meeting....short and to the point. The kids are expected to keep their grades up (A&B's only) and were told that being part of the patrol was an honor. And as much as I'm not looking forward to taking my daughter to AND from school EVERY day next year....I think it is going to be a good thing for her. Wee one is, how shall we put this, a little scattered. She is one of those kids who walks in the door and you can follow the trail of books, shoes, clothes, whatever and find her at the end of it. Her room is "controlled chaos". I can go in there and search for something for 10 minutes, then ask her where it is. She will zoom in on it in 2.3 seconds. "Sheesh mom, why didn't you just look behind the desk, under the pile of last year's book reports to the left of my collection of cool gum wrappers?"

Being on the patrol is going to force her to keep things in reasonable order, and to remember certain dates and times. (Good thing because at the very young age of 35, I am already suffering from CRS!) They are to wear a uniform of all navy blue every Wednesday, which means I will have to go shopping. I will be on the lookout for blue skorts! They also said that girls could wear blue tights. Wee one poked me and whispered, "You can cross that off the list. I'm NOT wearing tights!" LOL. The kids also have to attend two PTA meetings a year. I have never attended a PTA meeting! LOL....I know....bad mommy! I was always involved in my kids classes being a room mom, so I thought it only fair to leave all of that stuff to the other moms. Anyway....everything went well and wee one is tickled about it all. When we got there there was a little boy getting out of his car and he yelled over to her, then asked why she hadn't been at school for two days. She told him she had strep, and the mother's eyes got really big and she gave me a look like, "keep her away". That reallyP*&#$^ me off for some reason. I'm thinking, I could have sent her to school but I didn't....so mind your own freaking business lady. Of course, I then realized that this was the woman who wanted to be head room mom, and when I called her to ask her to "help", she never called back. Temper, temper! LOL.

Okay, it's time to get wee one on the bus and off to school. Have a good one!

Monday, April 18, 2005

And the winner is....

Strep throat! That didn't even cross my mind....I mean, she had a low fever, sore throat and her ear was popping....but she has had that before and all I get is, "It's a virus. Take Motrin for the pain." I should have known something was up when the medical assistant came in before asking any questions and swabbed her throat. When the doc arrived she said that they were having a run on strep and wee one tested positive. Then she told her no school tomorrow....

You should have seen wee one's eyes....they were huge. The doc asked what was going on at school, and we had to explain about the manditory safety-patrol meeting tomorrow night. She said she wanted her to have 24 hours worth of antibiotics in her before she went to school, so the 7:00 meeting will be okay. Whew....

So now, she is back on her couch in my room, coloring, all covered up. She says she is cold....I think the fever is coming back. I gave her the first two pills of the z-pack....and now I'm off to get her some motrin. Evening all!

Why I love being a Mom....

As you can see from the above pictures, wee one is enjoying a "homemade" lunch of mac and cheese. She has had a craving for it since last night, but I wanted to be sure the nausea had subsided before giving it to her. So far, her throat still hurts and her ear has popped and now it's all "tingley". I am sticking by my original dx of an ear infection. I got her an appointment but it's not until after 7:00 tonight. Here's hoping we are in and out of there so we can get our prescription filled and home before 9:00.

Just thought I'd document how well the little nerd is getting taken care of today....what a life! (I wouldn't have it any other way!)

Workin hard on the weekend....

Man, my legs are so sore! We worked all day Saturday out in the yard. From 9-3 we raked and shoveled and rocked. I have to say, it looks pretty good. We pulled out some bushes that I hated and everything is now ready for the fun stuff....planting some new things and putting down rock. I love that part of landscaping....it's the grunt work that I hate. Well, I don't actually hate it but it isn't the most fun. Next weekend will be full of the same, as I want to clean up the backyard too so that it is ready for the onslaught of perennials and garden decorations. I really need to find another gnome. My little guy is getting lonely out there!I don't know what it is about those little guys but I just love them. When I was little I used to pretend they lived out in the field that was next to our house. I convinced myself a few times that I saw little pointy red tips running through the grass....yeah, I was a weird kid. LOL.

We also got the boat all cleaned up and ready to sell. I hope that it sells quickly....this is the season....especially with people getting their refund checks back. It's a really nice boat....we just didn't like river boating. I think had we been on a lake, it would have been another story.

I have wee one home with me today. She woke up yesterday and said that she didn't feel good enough to go to church. Now, when wee one doesn't want to go to church, you know she doesn't feel good. We ended up going and she did fine. However, during the day she napped and woke up with another sore throat/dizziness/nausea. So....in about 3 minutes I'm going to call the doctor's office and see if I can get her in today. I think it may be an ear infection. We have to get her well because she has her orientation meeting for Safety Patrol tomorrow night. Yes, my daughter got the "official" geek patrol letter....she has been recommended by her teachers to become part of the coveted Safety Patrol. I kid with her....but I am very proud of her. It's quite an honor. The kids are chosen using a point system which is based on grades. She is quite happy about it!

It's 9:00 and I have already done 2 loads of laundry, dusted and mopped....I'm way ahead of the game today....yippee! I am off to call the doc now....

Furniture, cabbage and sleepovers....

Well, mom got her new couch and loveseat today....and they actually delivered it on time! Hey, for a $70 delivery fee, it should be on time! We went over there tonight for stuffed cabbage, and to try out the new seating arrangement. Let me just say that overstuffed leather reclining couches are spectacular. Oh man, I could have slept there all night! She made a great purchase....and the cabbage wasn't bad either.

Wee one is sleeping over at a friend's house tonight. It was this girl's birthday last month, and the party would have fallen on spring break, so they decided to wait. They were going to a local dinner/game/gocart/mini-golf place. Needless to say, wee one was quite excited to go. We ended up getting the little girl some Polly Pockets. Wee one has an extensive collection, so I decided to pick them up when I was shopping alone....to avoid having to buy two sets. I mean, come on....how many toys can one child have? Apparently, thousands....

I don't know what it is lately but everyone on our street is having trees cut down. Three people this week alone! And not just a small tree....huge freaking trees! Our neighbor took one down that was between our houses, and it looks so bare now. But, it needed to be done because the roots would have eventually grown under our driveway and caused it to crack. Can't have that!

Tomorrow is raking day....whoopie. We are going to rake and get the yard ready for landscaping. I'm kind of looking forward to it....kind of because I'm lazy.  I mean, I want it to look good, but I'm really lazy so it's going to be a long day standing out there raking over and over. I have to be in the mood for yard work and for some reason, I haven't been. I was for a few days....but the feeling has dissipated.  My thumb has yet to turn green this season....I'm still in winter mode.

Okay, I'm ready for bed. I spent the entire day cleaning and rearranging furniture. It was so peaceful. I haven't done that in a while and it was so nice just to be "one with the furnishings". And I've got a gorgeous new arrangement to boot!

Have a great weekend....

The latest form of entertainment at the JBCoupe house....

I believe I've mentioned before that any left overs I have, I usually throw over the fence, to be eaten by the various wildlife living behind us. Every morning when I let the dog out, whatever I have thrown out the previous evening is gone. One day I am going to look out my window and see obese racoons on those little motorized scooters, waiting for dinner....

I don't know what happened, but lately the most exciting thing to do around here is a new activity which we have dubbed, "Lob the Leftovers". I have been mid throw when I will hear wee one yell, "WAIT....I WANT TO THROW IT!!!!" Her favorite thing to throw is anything that will explode when it hits a tree....i.e. eggs, soft fruit, a tomato. I think it all really started the week after Easter when I had 3 dozen hard eggs that needed to be disposed of. I was walking to the porch when she spotted me. She grabbed the bowl and went running....shortly followed by Betsy....and then their father.  For the next few minutes all I heard was, "YESSSSSsssss!" and "Did you see that one hit the tree? COOL!" Who knew pitching stale eggs constituted a parental bonding activity?

In any case, the above pictures will give you a taste of what goes on at our house around 6:00 every evening. I also included two really bad pics of a lizard that lives on our screen. He sleeps there every night between the porch screen and the pool skimmer that is propped up against it. He's pretty cute I think. One of hundreds that will grace our home this summer.

Speaking of summer, dh just informed me that we will be opening the pool next weekend. I am looking forward to it since we are starting to work on the lawn. Now I'll have a nice place to cool off after working all day in the hot sun. I think this will be the last year for my clearance rack, $15 pool cover though....lol. I'm surprised it lasted two years!

Well, I'm outta here for now. I have been such a slacker lately in the journal department. I don't know why....it just seems that with all the changes AOL is making, it doesn't feel like a "family" environment anymore. I hate the new html format....and the new "journals" page is horrid. I used to look forward to seeing the top 5....now it's just so impersonal. Oh well....I suppose it was bound to happen some time!

Later....

0ur "unofficial" cat....

We have a neighborhood cat that has adopted us as a second family. Her name is Cynthia and she sits and waits for us to come home. As soon as we drive by, she follows, and pretty much moves in....she is John's constant companion whilst he is working in the garage, and she loves visiting me early in the morning when I take wee one to the bus stop. If I weren't allergic to cats....I might decide to have one. I have to admit, of all the cats I've known, this one is my favorite. I even buy her treats at the grocery store, or will open a can of tuna just for her. I suppose I'm a softie at heart.

This probably isn't going to be such a good entry, as I am half writing and half listening to the Jane Pauley talk show about kids and OCD. It's interesting hearing these teens talking about their habits and quirks, and comparing them to what I see in wee one.

Anyway....yesterday we all went to church, then to Sunday dinner at Cracker Barrel. It was good except for John's pork chop....which looked and tasted like shoe leather. I was expecting a thick, grilled chop, and what he got was one of those thin little breakfast chops (off of the lunch menu, mind you). When the waitress asked how everything was I told her it was great except for his piece of leather. Her smile actually froze on her face and I think she thought I was going to yell at her! LOL....she apologized, yet didn't mention taking it off the bill. Now, if it had been bigger than a slice of bread, or thicker than one, I may not have said anything....but I wasn't going to pay for what he got. So....when the cashier asked how it was I said, "Everything was great except for my husband's pork chop." He said, "He didn't like it?" and I said, "Well, if he were a fan of shoe leather he may have." Needless to say his dinner was taken of the bill. John was so embarassed he wouldn't even stand next to me. I told him, why in the world should we pay for something that wasn't any good? Sheesh....what a nerd! LOL.

Okay, I need to get going here. I have already COMPLETELY cleaned out my pantry, fridge and freezer....so now it's off to the bedrooms....yippee!

Long time no write!!!!

The birds are out full force around here lately! It's so nice to hear the singing in the morning. We've got our Cardinal family back as well as some Blue Jays. Of course, as soon as I put the birdseed out our little squirrel friends were there, looking for a free meal. I have to say though, they all share quite well.

Play day went wonderfully for the kids. The weather was perfect....and we were out in the back field, under the trees with the cool winds blowing....so nice. Wee one's class did extremely well, winning 1st place in 80% of the categories. They lost the tug of war however, which meant no trophy for their room....but they all got participation ribbons. They ended up having pizza and chips, courtesy of the grandparents of one of the students....along with the ice cream. Needless to say they were all bouncing off the walls!

I can't believe the end of the school year is coming so quickly. Only a few more weeks for my kids. It seems the year goes so fast here. Maybe because of the weather. Or maybe because I'm getting older....who knows!

I dropped dh off at a car show today, to walk around with his two buddies. They were so funny....just like kids. They met at the food stand and were jabbering before I even pulled away! LOL....I took the girls to my moms for the evening, as she lives right near where the show was.

We got our red rock too! Yippee....although that does mean we are going to have to actually go outside and put it down. I have had no energy! Actually, Thursday I had a horrible reaction to my antibiotics and haven't felt very well since. I'm just starting to get back to normal now. Remind me never to take Ceftin again. Horrid!!!! I actually had two of the "rare side effects" but didn't realize it until I looked it up. Sheesh! Give me my trusty Z-pack next time....at least I know that works quick and easy!

Okay, it's late and we have church in the morning....have a lovely weekend!

Mmmmm, pie....not really

My mother bought a lovely blueberry pie for dessert tonight. I was pretty excited about it (man, I am lame) as I do enjoy a good blueberry pie. I didn't eat all of my dinner, which happened to be a very good homemade stir fry complete with mini corn and waterchestnuts....anyway....I served up the pie with some Blue Bell ice cream and, well, it was a disappointment. The filling was not very good, and the crust was soggy. Man, I hate that....you know, when you have a taste for something and you just can't wait to eat it, then when you get it, it isn't what you thought it would be. Oh well. That just means I won't be picking at it all evening.

Nothing much going around here today. Actually, it was pretty boring. I got up, took the dog to the vet for his re-check....amazingly under $100!....then went and picked up my mom for a quick trip to the drug and grocery stores. Betsy was home with a stomach virus but didn't mind sitting here on the computer for hours on end. I bought her some Hostess mini blueberry muffins....her favorite. I love getting the kids a little something special when they aren't feeling well.

Whilst standing in line at the store I noticed a Woman's World that had the ingrediants to a "cocktail" that is guaranteed to help you lose weight. So, of course I had to buy it. Want to know what it is? Let me save you the $1.49 and tell ya....two garlic supplements with a water/apple cider vinegar chaser. Yup. I paid $1.49 for that. I should have just bought some apples or something. Sheesh. I don't think I'm going to be downing vinegar to lose weight. I'd rather be "pleasently plump" than a "marinated mini-me". Ick.

So, I came home, read my magazine, sat on the swing for a while, chopped veggies for dinner....and so on and so forth. I have been so lazy lately. I think it's from being sick. I always have a hard time getting back into the swing of things after a week of feeling lousy. Oh, I did buy the ice cream for play day....$15.00 worth~! We "absolutely can NOT ask parents for money" when it comes to the kids party....so we room mothers end up shelling out the dough. Doesn't seem quite fair! I don't mind, but the thing is the party is for EVERYONE, so shouldn't EVERYONE contribute? I think a $3 donation at the beginning of the year, by each child would be great. That way we would have $30+ per party. And honestly, if there was a family that couldn't afford it, I certainly wouldn't mind covering their portion. Jeez.

Of course, the only day that we are expecting rain is....Thursday. Crap. I hope the forecast changes before then. It's supposed to be 78 degrees, which will be great. Hopefully the sun will do what it normally does, and bully the clouds away!

I am so freaking itchy! No, I don't have some weird rash....it's the dry weather. When we were in Indiana I thought I was going to go nuts between dry hands and electrocuting myself every time I touched a doorknob. Funny how it never bothered me for 33 years, until I moved here with the uber-humidity. I'm becoming a winter wimp. My idea of a cold day was -20 degrees three years ago. Today? Well, lets just say when the air kicked on I had to go outside to warm up....

Okay, I'm outta here....have a good one!

Oh my aching head....

Yeah, that amount of pills should just about do it for me today. I had the mother of all headaches....you know the kind where it hurts to sit, stand, breathe....I felt nauseous too. Heck, I even went home early from my shopping trip! (Don't worry though, I did manage to spend $21! lol).

Man, I should rename this journal "The Secret Life of a Whiny-a$$ed Mom". Seems all I do is complain anymore! Sheesh.

On Thursday I am in charge of "play-day" in my daughter's class. It's a school sponsored day where the kids get to go outside and, well, play. They will be involved in intermural type sports....tug-of-war, relay races, that sort of thing. They always love these days. We (the room parents), are providing a make your own sundae bar for after the outdoor activities. They will also get to watch movies. It should be a fun day. We are supposed to be there at 8:45....I was going to complain for a minute here....but decided against it! lol....

It is so strange for it to be this sunny at 7:00 in the evening! Wee one is still outside riding her scooter, and dh is working on the boat. The weather has been lovely, and there is a nice, cool evening breeze out there. I've been sleeping with the windows open every night. We should have a pretty good electric bill this month! Better enjoy it now because the pool will be open soon which means non-stop filtering. Wee one wanted to buy blow up rafts for the pool when we were at the store yesterday....I told her to wait until the pool was actually up and ready! She would have blown them up and slept on them if I would have let her! I also want to get one of those deck boxes to keep goggles and such in. We always end up going through pair after pair of them each year, as they blow away, or are left at neighbors homes. At least with the box I'll know where they are.

Okay, it's bath time....for wee one, not me....so I must be going. Enjoy the sunshine!

Sunny Sunday....

Guess what I bought today? LOL....we are out of tp again! I have got to stop tp-ing peoples houses in my spare time....actually, I never buy kleenex, and we have all had colds. So....it was off to the store to get toilet paper. So why is it that my total bill was $61? Possibly because I took my children with me. Wee one just had to have the pink "skip-it" with retractable ribbon and Betsy....well, actually, she spent her own money. So, I suppose the guilt of extra spending falls squarely on my shoulders. Wait! John did call me to ask me to pick up some duct tape. Yeah....that's what did it!

It is so beautiful out today. I mean beautiful....there is a slight breeze, and the temp isn't quite 65. It's sunny and the skies are a deep blue. I can only imagine how gorgeous it is at the beach today! I bought some bird seed as my cardinal family is back. I need a stand to put the food holder on though. I need to get to Big Lots and see what they have. I just love that store....

I'm also trying to decide on what type of rock to get to go around the house. Dh has the trailor put together and wants to get it this week. I like the red rock....but it's so freaking expensive. I just don't want the plain river rock. We had that before. It is fine, but I want something with color. Has anyone seen that rubber, colored rock? Guaranteed not to rot or blow away....very weird. And it comes in blue! Of course, blue wouldn't work here, but green would. Hmmmmm, maybe I should do the entire yard in green! That would take care of trying to grow this freaking St. Augustine grass. Dh suggested cementing the entire yard and putting green dye in the mix. I told him he will be enjoying it ALONE if he decided to do that. What a whacko! LOL.

Well, I do believe that he is ready to whisk me away for a Sunday drive. He wants to look at houses. I don't know if I want to move or not. I'm used to this house, and I do like it. I love our back yard being that no one is behind us....although that could change as the property that backs up to us is for sale. Although it is not wide enough for a subdivision, if someone thought they could get away with building four houses and making some money; they will. It's crazy down here! The lot is 2.5 acres with a tiny old house and they want $4k! Amazing. They will get it too. Probably $380.

Alright, I'm outta here....have a lovely Sunday!

Watching and Waiting....

I don't know why, but I find myself watching and waiting as the reports come in about the Pope. I'm not Catholic, but I respect this man of God, who gave his entire life to his Heavenly Father. The good that he has done transcends all religions; one doesn't have to be Catholic to know the power and compassion of this man.  I've been watching as the news broadcasts people of different faiths, from countries all around the world, praying for him.  I am in awe of the sheer magnitude of respect and love that is pouring out of a world that seems to be so lost and far from God.

I pray for peace for the Pope. That his passing will be swift, and without pain. I pray for strength for the church and it's members.  I thank God that so many were blessed and touched by this man's life here on earth....

Precious in the sight of the LORD [is] the death of his saints.
Psalms 116:15

I decided NOT to clean today....

Yup, that's right. I'm going to sit on my butt and do nothing all day. And tonight for dinner? You guessed it....Swanson tv dinners for all. I'm not going to put on makeup, do my hair, or even brush my teeth. The pile of ironing is going to stay on the floor, and the garbage will remain unemptied. Yes....I'm throwing caution to the wind....

"April Fool'd Day!!!!" Did you fall for it? Anyone who really knows me wouldn't have....I can't believed I actually typed all that....ewww, I feel all funky....I can't even type about being a slob without the sensation of phantom germs on my hands!

Anyway....I have wee one home with me today. She was all smiles as she jumped into bed, waking me when John was walking out the door to go to work. However, when the alarm went off 45 minutes later, she woke up nauseated with a migraine. Poor thing....her eye was all bloodshot and she was shaky. I gave her some motrin and she is resting now. Her tummy is still questionable, but she has managed to have some toast.  I think she will be feeling better by the afternoon, after a good nap.

I ended up going to the doctor yesterday. I have acute sinusitis....not "a cute", "Awwww, isn't she adorable sneezing and coughing?" but "acute" as in, "You should have come in last week....here's an antibiotic!" I'm actually feeling much better this morning....woohoo. The weather is absolutely gorgeous and I need to get out and start planting. It rained last night....we even got thunder and lightening....and 30 minutes sans electricity. I tell ya, there can be a slight breeze and the power will go out around here. I had to keep reassuring wee one that hurricane season is months away, and it was just a spring storm. *Sigh.

Tonight is What-a-burger night. Yippee....no cooking for me! Betsy is off to a friend's house for the evening, so it'll just be dh, wee one, my mom and myself. I wish we could sit on the porch and eat, but I threw out all my old furniutre. Why? Because I figured if I keep looking out there at nothing, I will be forced to go out and get the set that I want. I have grand visions of lounging out there in the mornings.....cup of coffee in hand and a good book or magazine....birds chirping, squirrels frolicking....etc.

Okay, I must get to my cleaning....have a lovely Friday!
